Edwardian Inlaid Bureau Bookcase
A good quality mahogany and inlaid bureau bookcase. The bureau having 3 long and 2 short drawers all with original brass handles and escutcheons. The inlaid fronts with kingwood banding between boxwood and ebony lines. The figured mahogany fall opens to reveal an attractive interior consisting of 4 inlaid drawers with original brass pulls and a central cupboard with lock and key, and 12 shaped pigeon holes. The writing surface with replaced hand dyed black leather with blind and gold tooling. The bookcase/display top with 2 nine pane astragal glazed doors and matching inlay, a brass closing strip and lock and key. The 3 interior adjustable shelves with mahogany faces and boxwood line inlay. The cornice with inlaid frieze and shaped moulding with further kingwood banding between boxwood and ebony lines. In very good condition. Good quality solid mahogany linings and all original brass fittings. This item transports in 2 pieces. Sizes- Height...72.75''...215.5cm. Width...45''...114cm. Depth...20''...51cm. The bookcase will take books up to 8.5'' (23.7cm.) deep. Delivery to most of U.K. £75.
