Early 20th C. Silver Plate Caster, c.1900s-30s

This is a large, well made Early 20th Century Silver Plate Caster. The caster is in the Georgian Revival style with an octagonal line decorated stepped foot, an octagonal pear shaped body and a pierced domed lid with a turned finial. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The caster would have originally been designed for sprinkling caster sugar onto fruit or other desserts but it works equally well for sifting flour whilst baking or onto a work surface for rolling out pastry. It would also be great for sprinkling cinnamon, icing sugar or cocoa powder onto a cake, a dessert or a frothy coffee.
The caster is unmarked so we cannot say who made it but it is British and dates to around the 1900s to 1930s.
Condition is very good, with no significant plate loss and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. The lid fits securely. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The caster stands 20.5cm / 8ins high and is 7cm / 2.75ins across at its widest point. It weighs 199g / 7oz.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail Tracked 24.
