Beautifully painted oil on board by the British artist Denby Sweeting. Born in Bristol in 1936, Sweeting’s fabulously detailed brushwork and vivid colour are continuation of the traditions and techniques of Victorian realist painters such as William Holman Hunt. A smiling white goat, its teather chewed through, stands beside a group of ducks in an overgrown corner of the farm.
