David Neave Landscape, Watercolour

Landscape
David Neave
Pre Great War
A rare watercolour by War Artist David Neave. We are unsure where this watercolour was painted, although almost certainly in mainland Europe prior to The Great War. Neave brings to the painting the light and ambience of the landscape. Neave shows here the attention to his subject that some of his wartime drawings and paintings also exhibit with a far less pleasant subject matter.

Born in Kelvin Grove Glasgow in 1875. Neave became an official war artist in the First World War between 1914 - 1918. He flourished between 1895 and 1950, probably dying not long after this date.
