A wonderful example of a water or wine jug or pitcher, made from solid English Oak, with a fabulous glossy patina held together with silverplated fittings, with a quality screwed construction.

The grand figural spout has is in the form of Bacchus. The hinged lid opens to reveal an excellent condition ceramic liner, without damage. The silver is unmarked but probably by John Grinsell or Daniel and Arter, dating to the late Victorian era, c.1890.

The base diameter measuring 4 1/2" and spans 7 1/2" handle to spout and towering 8 3/4" to top of finial. A fine example in excellent condition.
