fine quality oak longcase grandfather antique clock by george lupton, altrincham circa 1780.
the case, with a lovely rich colour and patina has break arch hood with brass finials, reeded columns and long slim trunk door.
the arch dialed brass face with silvered chapter ring and cast corner spandrels, the 8 day movement striking the hour on a bell.
george lupton was a clockmaker of repute, he finished his movements to a very high standard as is clear to see with this particular antique clock, he was also an engraver so it is reasonable to assume he engraved his own dials too.
this really is a very handsome clock not done justice by the photographs. it has been fully serviced and is in good working order.
