A superb quality mid 19th century carved wooden Black Forest cuckoo antique clock. The antique clock has a wooden pendulum in the shape of a leaf and two cast metal weights in the shape of pine cones. The antique clock is fitted with a 30 hour mechanical movement which is wound up by pulling on the chains, the weights are suspended. The weights will drop over the day so this process has to be repeated each day. The clock strikes the hour and the small door at the top of the clock opens out of which comes the cuckoo who promptly cuckoos. The clock is in original condition, the carved pediment lifts off and is placed on after the clock has been hung. Measurements provided are for the case only and do not include the drop required for the weights and chains.
