Baptismal Pewter Bowl Glasgow 1770
Antique pewter Baptismal bowl having a flat rim narrow rim with an incised line. The bowl has a round flat base and a few dents where it has been used over the last 250+years. The sides of the bowl are slightly rounded and flared outwards rising to the flat rim. The bowl is marked in the centre of the inside with a square mark having a sail ship in the centre. There were possible words around the outside edge of the mark but due to ware we are unable to read these. We understand that a Stephen Maxwell, from Glasgow, used this type of mark in the late 18th century and this bowl probably dates around the 1770's.
