Arthur Simpson oak with leather and brass studded seat, arts and crafts chair with pierced carved decoration. Measures only 34 in high 16 in wide (seat) 16 in high to seat. Would have been probably designed as a bedroom chair. Arthur Simpson 1857 -1922 was a leading cabinet maker and carver from the arts and crafts movement. He was chosen by CFA Voysey to make his own antique furniture in Windermere. Items of Simpson can be found in the museum in Blackwell a house designed by M H Baillie-Scott in Windermere.
