Art Deco Silver Sugar Tongs, Viners, 1932
A distinctively Art Deco pair of Sterling Silver Sugar Tongs from the reign of George V. These stylish tongs are made by Sheffield silversmiths Viner's Ltd and date to 1932.
Viner's have a long and illustrious history. Founded in Sheffield around 1908 they produced a good range of silver and plated wares but quickly became best known for their cutlery and flatware and dominated the UK market in this area in the years after WW2.
These good quality sugar tongs have an elegant Art Deco chevron design within a thread rim down each arm. They are in very good condition with no dings or dents and only the most superficial wear. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The tongs are 9.7cm long and weigh a respectable 18.5g of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the inside of the hinge are well struck and clear to read but quite difficult to photograph! They are the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter "p" for 1932 and the E.V makers' mark for Edward Viner of Viner's Ltd.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
Overseas customers please ask us about shipping costs before making a purchase.
