Art Deco Epstein Satinwood and Amboyna Bed
Art Deco Satinwood and Amboyna Bed
This is a superb original 1930's Art Deco bed which we attribute to the sought after antique furniture maker H & L Epstein. This glamourous statement piece comes with integral bedside cabinets and is veneered in beautifully patterned satinwood accentuated with a darker veneer of richl chocolate coloured amboyna.
The headboard has the desired 'cloud' odeon shape which flows down and around the spacious cabinets, each of which has an open amboyna edged shelf above. The doors have their original satinwood handles and close firmly with rollerball catches. The headboards inset bevelled mirror gives a beautiful play of light and reflection.
The width between the cabinets in 95" so it will easily accomodate up to a Super King size base and mattress.
This style of bed is becoming extremely hard to find so we are delighted to be able to offer this beautiful example. We know of a matching dressing table advertised elsewhere and will happily point interested parties to it.
CONDITION
This is in very good condition but points to note are a small bit of veneer missing from the top left edge of the headboard and a repair to the veneers on front top left of the headboard (photos 23 and 24). There are also some scratches in the polish above the left cabinet (photo 12). Photo numbers refer to the online gallery (please request link)
