Antique Waltham Traveler pocket watch and chain
Antique Waltham Traveler pocket watch and chain.
The watch has a seven jewel stem-winding movement, Traveler grade, which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 12,634,483 which dates it back to 1903. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has a slight indentation.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the two case backs for Birmingham 1922, with a maker’s mark for the English watch case maker Dennisons, supplier of cases to Waltham UK.
The front and sides of the case are in good condition. The hinged case back has unevenness.
The movement and case are not original to each other, although there is no scar damage which suggests that this case would indeed have originally held a Traveler movement.
The acrylic lens is in lovely condition.
The dial has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.
The watch comes with a single silver chain, 32cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. There is also a silver fob awarded in 1921 to Sgt Morgan, HQ Company, 1st KSLI (King’s Shropshire Light Infantry).
The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
