Antique Waltham silver half hunter pocket watch
Antique Waltham silver half hunter pocket watch.
The watch has a stem-winding movement, 7 jewel Traveler grade, which is working nicely. The gilt movement is fully signed and the serial number 15,929,465 dates it back to 1907. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside all three covers for Birmingham 1931 with a case maker’s mark for Aaron Dennison. Dennisons made most of the cases for Waltham UK.
The movement and case are not original to each other. It may well be that the whole movement was replaced with a period movement because it was a more viable option in the case of water damage, for example.
The case is in lovely condition, just a small slightly flattened patch towards the edge of the back, nothing too serious at all. The front cover has a small central lens surrounded by blue enamel filled Roman numerals.
The acrylic lens is in good condition.
The signed dial is in very nice condition. Blued steel hands, including the special half hunter hour hand so that the time can be read when the front cover is closed.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
