An exquisitely beautiful antique sterling silver & guilloche enamel compact in very good condition. The hand painted scene on the lid is particularly fine & minutely detailed. Around the edges & the base guilloche enamel - golden yellow. The lid opens to a gilded rotating powder dispensing mechanism & a mirror which gives a good reflection. The mirror has age related marks which do not prevent the mirror from being usable. The sterling silver mirror bezel is a gilded twisted rope design. The base has a further compartment for the rouge which has a mirror with a gilded twisted rope bezel. This mirror gives a good reflection too - a few age marks on the mirror. There is a tiny area of enamel loss (pin prick size) - at the top just where the enamel meets the silver frame.any enamel loss. There is one subtle area of slight dis-colouration (English spelling) on the enamel. This is hard to notice as it is on the side & where our thumb would naturally be placed when holding the piece.
This sterling silver compact measures 2 1/2" & weighs 82.6 grams.
