Antique Salon Chair, Victorian c1850

This is an antique Victorian nursing chair dating to the time of the Great Exhibition, c.1850.
Riding upon the original ceramic castors in elaborate brass mounts, the tapered, ring turned and fluted front legs are complimented by the swept rear legs, picking up on the sinuous lines of the 'S' scrolled form of the piece.
The relaxed rake and the traditionally stuffed seat make for a comfortable easy chair. Covered in a quality needlepoint tapestry of flora and foliage in golden tones highlighted by the luxurious, broad, claret velvet stripe. The side panels finished in lush, deep, bottle green velvet trimmed with matching brocade and buttons to the scrolls.
Delivered ready for use in the home, a classic example of Victorian luxury.
Dimensions:
Max Width: 48cm (19'')
Max Depth: 99cm (39'')
