This antique gilt wood side chair is very ornately carved all over. The gilding has naturally aged & you can see plenty of the red under layers coming through the gilding, plus other colours. It looks more like Italian style than French & I would date it to around the 1920’s period. This chair has generous proportions & the back legs are as decorative as the back ones. We have just had it re-upholstered in our regular cream cotton linen fabric.
