This very impressive antique Georgian style deep buttoned leather 'Porters Chair' is definitely one of the nicest ones I have had. It's full of character & has a magnificent colour. It's also in good original condition, probably dating from around the 1920-30's period. This chair has been revived & polished to enhance the character. These chairs originated from the chair placed in the hotel lobby for the porter to seat on & protect his neck from the draft or so the story goes. The original hand coloured brown leather has natural distressing all over, with no splits, tears or holes & it's hand studded too. I would say it would make a great conversation piece & also a very useful addition to any home. It also sits on small brass casters.
