This is an antique Davenport. an English, rosewood and satinwood writing desk, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1880.
Dashing Victorian Davenport
Displays a desirable aged patina
Splendid Rosewood offers fine grain interest and rich russet hues
Desk interior presents radiant satinwood with superb figuring
The comfortable writing slope with inset, tooled leather skiver
Opens smoothly to reveal a pair of drawers and galleried central recess
Dressed with a small circular lock escutcheon to the front fascia — key absent
Upper surface with low back rest ideal for ink wells or drawing sets
A suite of four drawers to the right hand side, with faux fronts opposite
Removable stopper within the interior releases the long pen drawer to the right
Elegant barley twist supports meet the U-shaped plinth base
Rising smoothly upon four brass and ceramic castors
This is a fine antique Davenport, which offers attractive stocks of Rosewood and Satinwood and eye-catching details.
