Superb Antique Burr Walnut Bookcase Secretaire and dating from around 1920. Of excellent quality walnut it has a cornice top above a cross banded frieze over two glazed doors with burr walnut fronts and cross banded edge with working lock and key. Internally there are two removeable shelves and it is velvet lined to the back. The base has a moulded edge to the top above a long burr walnut panelled false drawer front with working lock and key. The fall front opens to reveal a superb interior of four small drawers to the top over four pigeon holes with attractive frieze arches and to either side there are a further two small drawers. All of the drawers are burr walnut fronted with small brass knob handles and are mahogany lined. The writing surface is of superb Burr Walnut. Below the secretaire desk there are two moulded anelled doors with cross banded edges and with working key and with internal shelf. The sides are Burr walnut with cross banded edges and it is moulded to the base and stands on shaped bracket feet. The top separates from the base for ease of transporting.
