A 10CT Gold Filled American Pocket Watch made by the South Bend Watch Company, USA.
This watch is an American Size 16, South Bend Watch Company "Studebaker" model. It has a very good quality 21 Jewel, 8 Adjustments movement.
The rear of the case has a steam train engraved but this has worn over the years.
The inside of the rear cover and inner cuvette stamped "10 Karat Gold Filled Railroad Model".
The dial is in good unrestored condition. It has the watch model name "Studebaker" on the dial. The hours in Arabic numerals and each minute marker also numbered from 1-60.
The watch serial number 1,209420 dating it to c1928.
The company is well known for its "block of ice" advert where the watch was frozen in a block of ice to demonstrate their adjustment to heat and cold. As part of their advertising campaign they also had a watch boiled in water.
