A Superb Butlers Tray Possibly By Thomas Chippendale

A superb mahogany Butlers Tray on stand possibly by Thomas Chippendale This large, folding side, four panel tray is of very dense Cuban mahogany with a very good colour. The edge has a triple reed, the hinges are tight and the folding stand is believed to be the original. An excellent example in very good condition. 780mm high, 990mm wide and 870mm deep. English. Circa 1763.
An identical tray is illustrated in Christopher Gilbert's 1978 book "The Life and Work of Thomas Chippendale" page 276 and listed as part of the contents of The Dumfries House. Indeed it is in the catalogue for the cancelled Dumfires House sale of 2007, lot number 67.
