A magnificent 6 feet wide Arts & Crafts triple hanging wardrobe made from solid limed quarter-sawn oak. It was made in the Late Victorian period by Frederick Muntzer of 16 Dover Street in Picadilly, London. Muntzer (1851-1939) was a prominent interior decorator of the time and friends with the architect Sir Edwin Lutyens and the artist Sir William Nicholson. There is a label attached to top of the base section.
Muntzer also had a building firm in Chelsea, he built several houses in Surrey for Charles FC Voysey and his son Thomas was Voysey's pupil.
There are carved floral decorative panels on the side doors and the wardrobe was lined throughout with a pink floral patterned fabric. The fabric has been replaced. The original handles are very attractive.
The wardrobe come into 4 parts for transport.
Height 211cm x width 183cm x depth 53cm. The top piece is 190cm wide. The dismantled double section is 122cm wide.
