A rare late 16thC Caqueteuse chair


A rare late 16th century Caqueteuse chair constructed from oak and having excellent colour and patination. The chair has a richly carved back with boarders of foliage and guilloche type patterns with a pair of intricately carved mythical sea horses on the top rail.
The arms supported by four finely turned baluster supports with a plank seat and the base consisting of two gun barrel turned legs at the front with four interlocking stretchers connecting with the square legs at the back.
The chair has had some restorations as you would expect with chairs of this age but is in good order.
