6 x Norwegian Silver Gilt & Enamel Coffee Spoons
This is a beautiful set of six Mid-Century Norwegian Sterling Silver Gilt and Enamel Coffee Spoons from around the 1960s. The spoons are in a trefid pattern and the silver is gilded front and back with enamel down the front of the stems in a mix of colours, as is traditional with these Scandinavian sets. They come in their original box with a flock tray and clear plastic cover.
The coffee spoons are made in Bergen, Norway by Theodor Olsens Eftf and date to around the 1960s. Theodor Olsen founded the firm in 1868 but died in 1890 and in 1902 the business was sold to fellow Bergen silversmiths, the brothers Magnus and Knut Aase, who continued to run the business under the Olsen name alongside their own firm.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents and most importantly no damage to the enamel work. There is a small amount of rubbing to the gilt on a couple of the coffee spoons. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each spoon is 9.9cm / 3.9ins long and the set of six together weighs in at a very respectable 66.6g / 2.3oz.
The spoons are all clearly marked on the underside of the stems with 925S and Sterling to show that they are Sterling Silver (92.5% pure), Norway to show the country of origin and the crown and dots makers' mark for Theodor Olsens Eftf.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the spoons.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
