We are delighted to offer for sale this lovely oval portrait oil on canvas of a young girl. As the original canvas has been cut into an oval in the past and relaid on canvas, there is no signature available for the artist. The portrait depicts a young, late Victorian or Edwardian girl of around 10 or 12 years of age with long brown hair. Her hair is pulled back with a blue ribbon with a bow at the top of her head and she has blue eyes. She is wearing a light blue dress, with puffed sleeves and a frill around the neck and she is wearing a double string of coral beads.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any biographical information about the artist, but this is a lovely portrait and very well executed.

The painting is in its original gilt mount and has been newly framed in a 2 5/8" gilt frame to suit. It will be supplied wired and ready to hang.

Frame size: 28 5/8" x 25 1/8" - 72.7cm x 63.65cm

Medium: Oils on canvas laid on canvas

Condition: Very good condition. The canvas has, in the past, been laid on rectangular canvas and has some fine craquelure. There is no paint loss and the surface is clean. The mount is in good condition and the frame is new.
