19C Victorian walnut cameo back sofa settee couch
Antique 19C Victorian walnut cameo back sofa settee couch chaise longue.
This is a beautiful rare item, with a lovely age, colour and patina. The carved canted front legs are very unusual and create a great effect.
We believe that the sofa is made of walnut although it could conceivably be a similar coloured show wood (back legs are beech).
The upholstery is a very heavy weight with a natural, light cream/oatmeal colour.....would look amazing with a couple of brightly coloured cushions.
The sofa is very solid with no loose legs, sags or wobbles.
Lovely proportions and styling.
1920mmW x 770mmD x 910mmH (330mm high seat when sat on).
Historic knocks, marks, repairs and alterations, as is always the way with antique sofas. Note that the upholstery is recent with no significant wear or marks. We have not inspected components concealed beneath the fabric, but the sofa does have a sprung horsehair structure. There are just a few visible historic woodworm holes, that we have treated for good measure. Possibly had castors originally and there are some old tack marks on the back around the cameo section.
Please note that this item is large and heavy. Please make sure before buying that it will fit in and can be maneuvered into the room that it is intended for. The customer will need to provide 1 strong able-bodied person (more if possible) to assist our driver carrying the sofa.
