Yardley is one of the world's oldest cosmetic companies. Established in 1770, Yardley was a major producer of soap and perfumery by the beginning of the 20th century. By 1910 it moved to London's Bond Street and in 1921 Yardley received its first Royal Warrant. Today, Yardley holds two Royal Warrants.

This iconic 1938 Art Deco compact is gorgeous with a rich gold patina & unusual fluted edges. A top the lid on a base of granular gold tone smooth gold tone lilies shown in fine detail. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The mirror is excellent. The powder well still has the original 'ENGLISH PEACH' sticker in place. A tight fitting sifter means that this compact may be used with loose face powder. The base is signed 'Yardley LONDON'. This brand's extensively documented history means this compact comes with a huge & lavishly illustrated fact sheet.

My apologies for the images which do not do this compact justice. The compact is highly reflective which makes it difficult to photograph.
