17th Century Carved Oak Wainscot Chair

This Handsome Chair, has a magnificent patina, the solid plank seat has a carved border at the front, the turned legs and uprights support the arm rests, all set off with a decorative high throne back carved in with the traditional designs of a flower urn and scrolls. At the top there are 2 twinned dragons with spear shaped tongues
This magnificent chair would be at home by the fire in a main hall, but a piece with such superb quality carving such as this has a stand alone country house quality
The chair is in in very good condition for its age it has obviously been well cared for during its long life, and the years of polishing have given it a fantastic natural patina
The Chair is 50” high it is 27” wide and 22” deep, the seat height is 18.5”
