14CT Gold/P Waltham Hunter Pocket Watch

A very nice antique 14CT gold plated Waltham Pocket Watch. The watch is in excellent condition and good working order.
The 14CT gold plated watch case is in very good condition. It has a nicely engraved presentation inscription to the inner cuvette, the original owner being presented with the watch on his leaving of the warehouse of Mann Byars & Co Ltd, Glasgow 1914.
The business of Mann Byars & Co, merchants and manufacturers, was founded in 1847 and remained in business until 1938. In its hey-day it occupied an area stretching from Glassford Street to Virginia Street, with the retail department located in Argyle Street. A wide range of clothing and household goods was sold, much of the stock produced in the firm's factories in Virginia Street and Dunlop Street.
The watch has a good quality Waltham 17 Jewel movement. It has a nice damaskeened finish and a micro-metric regulator. The movement is in good working order.
The white enamel dial is in good condition, it is signed "Waltham USA". It has the hours in Roman numerals.
