Oak & Copper Plaque made from HMS Foudroyant.
HMS Foudroyant was launched in 1789 in Plymouth & became Lord Nelsons 80 gun flagship. She was wrecked off Blackpool in a bad storm in 1897. The timbers & copper were made into souvenirs, this plaque being one of them.
The Oak frame is carved with Oak leaves & the Copper plaque shows the ship bow on with the Royal Coat of arms above, the shield to the left showing the launch date & the shield to the right showing the shipwrecked date.
Great collectors item.
Condition very good, frame comprises of 2 sections of oak secured by backboard.
