MoP & Silver - Small Fruit Knife - Sheffield 1902
Silver and Mother of Pearl Small Fruit Knife.
Hallmarked for Sheffield 1902 - date letter - lower case k
The maker`s mark - CWF, for C W Fletcher, Sterling Works,
Bramhall Lane, Sheffield.
A beautiful, small fruit knife in absolutely unused condition.
The blade opens and closes correctly - it does not snap yet. it has, obviously been left and has dried out, over a long period. It is improving as I clean, lubricate it, and work the blade.
Plain, tapering Mother of Pearl scales to both sides, decorated to both ends of the front with Lily of the Valley.
The centre with an oval cartouche, initialled M F H.
The other side has a single flower with dots to either side.
The blade is plain but for the thumb groove and the hallmarks.
Excellent unused condition, throughout. 122 years old,
but there is one tiny chip to the MoP on the reverse side - see picture 6.
Open length:- 109 millimetres / 4.29 inches.
Closed length:- 66 mms. / 2.60 ins.
Knife weight:- 17.1 grams.
