Engine Turned Silver & Leather Hip Flask - 1930
A very handsome large liquor or whisky flask by the top-notch silversmith, James Dixon and Sons of Sheffield.
I love the engine turned work, it was used extensively during the Art Deco era, and this silver is hallmarked for Sheffield 1930, 88 years old.
The leather top is a lovely cognac colour with a good patina. The bottom has a removable drinking cup, lavishly gilded on the inside and marked on the underside 3/8 PT for 3/8 Pint capacity. The lid also is decorated with engine turned detail and has a bayonet lid, requiring a twist and lift action.
The makers mark is present for James Dixon and Sons. Excellent condition measuring 6 1/8" x 3 3/4" x 1 1/4" thick.
