Art Nouveau bronze by Georges Recipon
Georges Recipon, French, 1860- 1920: “La Chance” or “Porte Bonheur” - lucky charm. An Art nouveau period gilded and silvered bronze showing a naked nymph hammering a nail into a silver horseshoe. Signed 'Recipon,1908-1911 and Susse Fs. Ed.,' for the Paris foundry Susse Freres. Dimensions 15 by 11 cms. Condition: the figure’s head and hair area has verdi-gris. The patination is worn in places on the figure, the horseshoe is discoloured in places and the silvered finish worn a little underneath. Structurally however, it is complete and undamaged, an attractive piece.
