We are offering this absolutely beautifully painted pair of oval botanical watercolours by the Italian artist Filippa Whitford, who was born in 1951. Both paintings are signed by the artist, along the edges of the stems or leaves. The paintings contain an assortment of flowers including roses, freesias, carnations and pinks, with some greenery including ivy. The flowers have been executed in minute detail and are typical of the work by this artist, as she worked as a ceramic artist for Royal Worcester for nine years, where she worked on rich table-ware including The Blind Earl Pattern, The American Independence Service and the Imari.

She was privileged to decorate various large vases and bowls with the Imari design especially for Her Majesty the Queen, as a gift to the Premier of Finland during a state visit.

According to the biography on the reverse of the paintings, she lives in Evesham in Worcestershire where she paints, designs and illustrates. She is Italian by birth, but resident in England. Her work has been found in limited edition print form. More recently, as well as painting, she is designing cards and needlecraft kits etc. with her married daughter Anna Whitford Nelson.

The paintings are framed in 1 1/8" beaded and reeded gilt frames and will be supplied wire and ready to hang.
